Situation

Our Client – a leading European Telco – decided to align its sourcing strategy to better address the very nature of online projects (web and mobile). Compared to OSS/BSS projects our client was mainly used to deal with, online projects are by nature user-centric and require shorter lifecycles and weaker requirements definition level. Open Web Technology was requested to evangelize the specificities of online projects and and adapt the sourcing policy accordingly.

Approach

By working closely with our Client, we delivered an exhaustive sourcing strategy covering key topics such as:

  • the type of roles typically involved on the type of project considered
  • the estimate of needs, by role, in relation a consolidated project roadmap
  • the most effective engagement model to source those roles
  • a clear split of responsibility between business, IT and 3rd party suppliers
  • We work step-by-step: starting with a limited scope, we aim to deliver quickly and test with user panels to learn what works well and what doesn't. Then we move to the next iteration and grow from there.
  • We typically create a small team of fully dedicated people for each project, acting like a mini startup, and including both, business and IT skills.

Working in this way, the go-to-market cycle which typically takes more than one year can be easily reduced to maximum of 3-6 months.
