Nolan Bushnell, legendary entrepreneur and founder of Atari Inc. once said that “a lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer”.

At OWT, it is part of our culture to grow big doers with big ambitions. We therefore decided to do something about our ideas: we gathered all ideas from all OpenWebbers, and to help them push those ideas to their maximum potential, we held an internal startup competition!

We started with a night of pitching, where everyone presented their ideas in less time that you need to ride an elevator. After that, we voted on the best ideas and formed teams to work on the five most promising ideas. Of course, beers were involved to celebrate the selected ideas!

Apéro for entrepreneurs in startup story

The formed teams had a few weeks to discuss, plan and grow those ideas before the selection. The final results were impressive and Sfit, a mobile application that brings sports to companies in a collaborative and fun way, was the winner of the contest. Indeed, Sfit will allow companies to increase their overall productivity through a more dynamic working model, as today almost 80% of employees want to practice sport at work. This application will connect colleagues and increase companies visibility and reputation: it has a lot of potential and the jury acknowledged that this idea would benefit both employees and organisations!

Team Sfit winners of startup stories

Thomas Tharaud, founder of Sfit shown here with his team, said that "he is very proud to have won the startup story contest. From the initial idea to the end of this adventure, everything was a team effort. For this reason, he would like to thank all the members of his team and all the participants to the contest". His idea will now be developed and tested here at OWT!

We're sure his idea will go to great places, and while developing it we can't wait for the next session of Startup stories! We'll keep you posted with the new batch of best ideas...
